In the second episode of our WRER podcast series, Alfredo Bataller, CEO of SHA Wellness Clinic, joins Roger Allen to discuss what developers should weigh before moving into a dedicated wellness or longevity proposition, and how to make it a success.

Drawing on the 2026 Wellness Real Estate Report, Alfredo reflects on why Minor Wellness hotels are now outperforming Major Wellness properties for the first time, and what developers need to weigh carefully before moving from a traditional hotel investment towards a dedicated wellness or longevity proposition. As both a hotel investor and wellness operator, he explains why SHA deliberately keeps the two business lines separate, and why the brand says no far more often than it says yes.

Roger Allen: "In hospitality, hotels try to cover every base, every trend, every guest profile. And in many respects, you end up becoming, as we say in English, a jack of all trades, a master of none."

The conversation then turns to where it all began, a deeply personal story about Alfredo's father, a chance meeting with a Japanese wellness master, and the second chance that became SHA. It's a reminder of what happens when a business stays rooted in why it exists.
