Roger Allen, RLA Global Group’s CEO chaired a distinguished panel to discuss Adjacent Living - Shaping the New Lifestyle at the International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) on 2nd September 2021.
The co-living sector has seen a seismic change and a growing appetite from investors as the lines continue to blur between hotels, senior living, student housing, co-living and serviced apartments.
The panel members:
The in-depth discussion addressed the growing opportunities that exist to invest beyond the hotel room.
In a lively discussion, the panelists talked about their own experiences operating in this sector:
• What is driving the growth in this sector and why has it become so attractive to investors.
• The shift in consumer living and why flexible stays, enriched environments and communal living are seeing space sacrificed, for quality of life.
• Why the contraction of office, retail, and hospitality space has led to obvious opportunities for redevelopment of buildings, in prime city-center locations.
The panel concluded that although gross income may be lower than a traditional hospitality model, the financial stability of a hybrid model between hotels and residential living (especially post-pandemic) makes it a much more attractive prospect to investors.
