The resort and leisure market has seen record occupancy and ADR performance, but with competition for beach resorts at an all-time high, some investors are looking further afield to properties catering to other types of leisure demand.
The RLA Global, Group CEO Roger Allen moderated the ‘beyond the beach’ panel session at the Resort & Residential Hospitality Forum, which was held in the Algarve, Portugal.
‘Beyond the beach’ was about resorts that don't have a beach as a resource and invited two asset managers to showcase a mountain resort and a golf resort and share some of the defining property characteristics that make them a success.
Leading the golf resort topic was Margarida Caldeira, Head of Hospitality at Broadway Malyan and heading the mountain resort asset was Romain Semmel, Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer, Vertell Asset Management.
