RLA Global's CEO was recently asked to join the HospitalityNet World Panel on Sustainability.   The HospitalityNet World Panel on Sustainability was pioneered by Prof. Dr Willy Legrand and the initiative is intended to gather leading experts and thought-leaders from around the world in the field of hospitality management to respond to controversial ideas or questions facing the hospitality industry. With this in mind, and due to the multiple environmental and societal challenges, invited experts represent various sectors including industry professionals, consultants, governmental and non-governmental experts, researchers and academics.

Together, it is possible to explore ideas, solutions and strategies required by the hospitality industry in the 21st century.   It is of particular importance to involve stakeholders, which are at the core of the many possible solutions in tackling the climate emergency in particular. Those stakeholders comprise investors, owners, developers, asset managers and consultants to the hospitality industry.

The brands and hotel operators are often at the end of the pipeline in terms of environmental impact mitigation tactics. In principle, decisions made at the concept development and feasibility study stages are key to what will happen later during the operations. If a clear strategy is made for carbon neutrality there and then -at the planning stages- the industry can lead the transformation required by society.  Prof. Dr Willy Legrand commented, “Roger’s involvement with the World Panel on Sustainability in Hospitality is so crucial as his knowledge combined with his team’s experience at RLA Global offers an essential bridge between owners and operators and the way the future assets are shaped in this industry”.  Roger Allen is excited to be joining such an important initiative and went on to say “the hospitality industry can do so much more to be eco-friendly and sustainable, and the HospitalityNet World Panel on Sustainability is a wonderful platform for experts to exert influence on industry stakeholders ”.

Prof. Dr Willy Legrand has addressed a number of fundamental questions on Climate Emergency and the Hospitality Industry in a recent RLA Global insights article.

Roger Allen, Prof. Dr Willy Legrand and Ricardo Ricardo Moreira, Managing Director - XCO2 will feature in the panel session ’Sustainability Matters - to green or not to green?  Establishing the economic value of green initiatives in hotel investments’ at the 2019 International Hotel & Investment Design Conference event taking place 7th November at the Andaz Hotel, Vienna.
